Hi Massimo,

In addition to the link Doug posted, you need to review

   https://www.arcanoae.com/wiki/arcaos/installation-planning/virtual-machine-configuration/oracle-vm-virtualbox/

BASEDEV=DANIS506.ADD /!BIOS
BASEDEV=OS2AHCI.ADD

As the link notes, you want to configure the VM for an IDE controller and
use DANIS506 only.

While AHCI and NVME are faster on real hardware, this is not the case in a
VM.

do clamscan benefit of multi-core environment (6 cores)?

Probably not in a VM.  You need to test this on your setup.

storage setup on the vbox is IDE IHC6

You probably should to REM out the

   BASEDEV=OS2AHCI.ADD

since it's not getting loaded.

Steven

that doc is strange, i use my VMs (except one) with more than one CPU
and they work correctly
i've never seen guest OS lockup, never had data loss, etc.

running with just one core maybe is useful only for TEST VMs
or something very small, eg. like my secondary mta+dns
or for a small webserver (eg 10 or 15 html/js websites, no more)

with more core there are speed improvements
the guests OS eCS2.2b and one AOS see multiple CPU cores correctly

maybe this issues are due to linux as host
here i use Windows Server 2022 and 2019 as host OSs
HW are Supermicro Intel Xeon motherboards one with 10 phisical cores
and the other with 4 cores

i've also seen that putting VM containers on 4th generation NVME
storage improves perfomances *a lot*
i use a single NVME for every VM, so I/O are at the best

instead the "base" storage is done with Samsung SSDs (in RAID1)

with Virtual Box the only virtualization issue i had in the past
was the guru meditation of the webserver VM, but that was due to
an high load (apache+php+mysql with a number of websites, even WordPress sh$t)
now websites are less and mysql is on another VM
and guru meditations have completely disappeared

about tcp/ip performances my VMs are faster than when i had the first server
on bare metal (until april 2024), anwyay the /2 ip stack, we know,
is not the best in performances..
