It caused a certain amount of air pollution, which gave the city a bad name. For a while I had a house where I had a view over non-hilly suburbs towards the steel mill site. Just after 5 pm each day, you could see a cloud of smoke rise into the sky. Why at that time? Because the environmental monitoring ended at 5 pm.
