Hi all,

Some jackass called me and wanted his grandad (me) to send him
$1000.00 to get out of jail!  I usually just hang up on them, but I
was so tempted.  I told him that the last time was the last time,
he feigned tears! You gotta appreciate the talent these guys have!

What is interesting is that enough folks fall for these scams that
the scammers make enough to stay in business.

Amid all the gloom, here's a good-news story.

A friend of mine got one of those phone calls saying "This is Microsoft,
and we've discovered a problem with your computer". "That's
interesting", said Lennie, "Tell me more about it". He kept the scammer
on the phone for 15 minutes with his questions. Eventually the scammer
said "You need to turn on your computer now".

Lennie replied "I don't have a computer". (And he doesn't.) The scammer
was furious. "You've wasted my time". Lennie just said "I didn't call
you, you called me".
