This would seem to be an appropriate place to ask this:

I have Peter's FTP server running. Mostly, it works very well, however, a while back, I was trying to use it while I was away from home. All I got was a connection timeout. At the time, I had a Friend near Victoria BC give it a try. It worked as expected.

I am pretty sure that it is not a firewall problem, because I was able to use Weasel, on the same computer.

After I got home, I inspected the logs, and it seems that the FTP serve never saw any access attempts. Of course, trying it, when closer to home, always works (even using my cell phone access). Changing timeout settings doesn't make any difference.

How do I find out where the problem is?

In these days i received a number of phone calls from a new employee at a customer of mine..

Email pop/popS is working, while smtp not.
The errors seems something about smtp auth.

After a number of emails and phone calls i suggested an Anydesk remote assistance session
to discover that's (his own personal PC) a mac... (bleah)

I tried Termimius (a terminal/telnet app), the PC was telnetting the SMTP port, so
nothing about a firewall or virus etc.

What we discovered, about this crappy OS..

We tried to connect that laptop to the smartphone hotspot and we seen
that the email was working perfectly with the smtp.
So we connected the laptop to an ethernet adapter and the email was sending
out emails correctly.

We discovered that the WIFI is bugged and the user found also other minor issues
when he's connected on WIFI (this is a new laptop, just some months old),
incredible, but true.
