Hi all,
QEMU can do it, but it's not for the feint of heart. I have no directionsSee the appended. This is collected from Walter Dnes over the years.
for you, as I've never personally been able to get ArcaOS to boot under
it (though I know that dixie has, and AFAIK, he uses it regularly - but
that being said, I do not know what the network performance might be
with it).
Walter hangs out on the SCOUG help list and elsewhere, I am sure.
It appears that he has worked with dixie on some of the issues.
I've not had the time to try the instruction here, but I'm sure Walter
would assist wih any issues that might arise.
I should have thought of Walter. Indeed, he's an intelligent and competent guy, and I believe him when he provides instructions for things. Also, as I say (and as noted in your previously appended info - thanks for that), dixie uses QEMU regularly (and now I see why had issues in my early attempts - I lacked the patched os2lvm.dmd).
It should also be noted that using a patched *anything* will make Arca Noae support unlikely for any potentially-related issues, e.g., "I seem to be having chkdsk problems," "my EAs are corrupted," etc. (in this case). Arca Noae support is expressly limited to systems running software tested by Arca Noae and distributed with ArcaOS (or distributed by Arca Noae for use with a given ArcaOS release).
That said, nothing should preclude anyone from trying different hypervisors and reporting experiences in appropriate places (such as the Virtualized eCS Users mailing list hosted on this very server: virtualized_ecs_users-on AT 2rosenthals DOT com).
