Chuck ... my experiences with Vista/Win7 are as follows: having
installed W*, BootManager is inaccessible. Well, we are used to that,
but neither Vista nor W7 have any means of resetting the BM partition
as active. So went back to the eCS install disk and reinstalled BM.
Now W* won't load from the BM screen. Seems that after years of
provocation, BM has finally got it's revenge. Replaced BM with BootIt,
and both W* and eCS load properly. Then installed Ubuntu and, voila,
all three systems are bootable. Hooray. But someone has clobbered the
partition table and although eCS is happy to boot and run, the install
CD does not recognise the layout any more and thus won't allow a
re-installation (as is now needed). So I have to clean the hard disk
(again) and reinstall everything from scratch (again!) but this time I
shall use DFSee to monitor the partition table at every stage.
