My thumb drive doesn't work on my T61. Suggestions?
Thumb drive is 1GB drive partitioned to FAT16 & HPFS. I checked the partition signatures w/ DFSee and they look
correct. Or at least they don't have any text that relates to Windows or MS. DFSee seems to think it is ok, as
far as I can tell anyway. I went ahead and rewrote the MBR & updated the LVM entries while in DFSee.
The drive works fine on my desktop. And it works fine on the T61 when booted to XP, ie: it sees FAT partition &
'unformatted' partition - the HPFS partition.
When booted to eCS rc6a, if I plug the drive in sometimes I get the popup that the drives are attached, sometimes
not. Either way, if I leave the machine alone for at least an hour the thumbdrive access light is still flashing
- very slowly. I presume it is reading sectors. I know that I should probably wipe it and reformat it but if
I'm going to do that I should probably do it on the T61 and I don't think I will ever be able to access it long
enough to get that job done.
If I try to start LVM, it hangs.
If I start LVM first, then insert the drive it just sits there flashing and LVM doesn't update, or it doesn't
update in a reasonable time - I've never waited more than several minutes.
My config.sys has BASEDEV=USBMSD.ADD /REMOVABLES:8 /FLOPPIES:0
The usb drivers are v10.162 and usbmsd is also v10.162 which I believe are the latest drivers.
I *cannot* recall if I have used this drive while booted to eCS on the T61 or not but *I think* I have. I don't
use theat thumbdrive all that often so I can't be sure.
