Ah, thanks Lewis, that figures.

In order to allow my daughter to log
in to HP from here (whilst we are entertaining her children) I had to
drop the security down to WPA from WPA2. That let her work, and also
let me continue working from eCS and Win7. But Ubuntu then refused to
connect. I found that I had to raise the router (a Belkin n-Wireless)
back up to WPA+WPA2 then all the clients were happy at WPA. This time,
I inadvertently set eCS back up to WPA2. Putting it back to WPA has
fixed the problem.

  

Seems as if, between Ubuntu, eCS and Belkin, there are at least a
couple of bugs.

  

But at least I can now get back to working up RC7, which looks really
promising after the frustrations of RC6a.
