Lewis: Thanks for the links, I'll look them over after the dust around here settles. FWIW, I did check with the local Batteries Plus, who have rebuilt calculator batteries, etc. for me in the past. They said they couldn't do a laptop battery. Maybe I'll know more after I look at those links. None of it is too difficult. Essentially, you need to track down the correct cells to replace the ones you have, pry open the case (usually glued together), schnipp the leads, solder the new ones, and seal the case again; pretty much as one might expect. It seems to be more tedium than anything else, as they're not manufactured with re-manning in mind (the leads usually don't easily detach, and the cases can be a pain to separate). But at least you end up with the original electronics, and not that dopey warning message that some body part will fall off since you're not using an "official" battery. ;-) I'll bet your working until midnight tonight! ;-) Actually, most of the shouting and weeping ends the day before. On the 15th, the stragglers are usually just picking up, and a few are dropping off stuff to calculate extensions <sigh>... I'm glad that's another season behind us, though. While the cash flow is a welcome change (these days), the fact that I haven't been feeling well has made it extremely difficult to keep up with the workload (and really, my brother does the lion's share of the 500 or so returns we do; I just do a small portion). Thankfully, my clients have been coming to me for so many years that they're all friends, of a sort, and they've been extremely understanding this year.
