I'm having problems with my internet setup.Jon, could you give us some more addressing information, such as:
I have no problem with a cat-5 connection. The wireless connection
is a different story. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Personally, I think the wLan Monitor widget requires something that
I don't have set correctly.
Yesterday I had no problem with wireless internet access. The onlyYes, I am seeing this, too, but haven't been able to nail down the cause. I did not see it with ACPI 3.07.
thing that changed is that I powered down last night. This morning
I had to power off 3x on bootup before the boot would finish (it's
been like this ever since I activated psd /smp).
Today I made a change to the wLan DNS setup, toggling it on andWhat the "Add router name to DNS" option should really read is "Add AP name to HOSTS." This will not help you with DNS lookups at all. The fact that rseolv2 is getting overwritten is either a bug (I haven't tested it myself) or something else at play.
setting it to 1.1.1.1. After that I was able to connect perfectly
fine. This is odd because it is the first entry into my original
resolv2 file. Unfortunately, this setting overwrites resolv2 even
though the help says it sets Hosts in %etc%.
I already have theOn the TCP/IP page of your profile, when you click the More TCP/IP Options... button, what do you have entered? If using a static IP and if you have nothing entered for DNS, this will delete the entry in resolv2 (or rather, when the wired is turned off, the entry is removed, and this would not re-populate it - unless the correct entry is filled in).
above in my Hosts file anyway. As far as I can tell the only thing
setting dns in wLan does is rewrite my resolve file be deleting
everything after the 2nd line in the file. Could it be that more
than one ip in the resolv2 file confuses wLan?
I'd rather maintain the resolv2 file as it originally was. I don'tWithout knowing a bit more about your setup, I'm not sure either.
even know why 1.1.1.1 works.
My problem is further compounded by lockups on bootup & by eCenterWhat I see from eCenter is a propensity for it to exit unexpectedly. On my T43, I have the full Xworkplace package installed and do not see that. I'm not sure whether it's ACPI related, widget-related, or something else.
whenever I've been toggling the wireless on/off. I may just start
over again & reinstall the whole thing.
