Hey man, THANKS RODERICK. I nknow I sounded furious back there, but fact is I just invested another $1000 or so into my OS/2 setup (bought new disks and application SW) and now this box crashes on me all time in the middle of a new project launch. I mean I used to get SOCKET.SYS errors for years (evenso I do remember that at one time those patches seemed to work), but with my increased TCP/IP traffic things just got out of hand. And yes, I do agree XPI add-ons should not cause the box to crash. Hang maybe, but not crash - and the fancy thing is that most of those XPIs actually work just fine. Until the crash dump happens. All I want is for the crashes to stop. I know Windoze is not flawless as well. Just during the last 24 hours I had to reboot by Windoze partition twice to get out of Internet Explorer - which had hung with ~40+ open windows. But those were
reboots, NOT CRASHES. You know how long it takes for a 60GB HPFS partition to recover? And that happened while I had a client ask me for data I got stored on my system! Please give me an e-mail addresss where I can send you all those files to and I'll do it right away. I'm just frusted with those stupid crashes. I mean, whoever wrote that stack must have had the same issue, as I had it on 3 different HW platforms. Why the heck didn't they correct it right there & then?? Thanks again - waiting for your e-mail address Roderick Klein <os2-wireless_users@2rosenthals.com> wrote: Hello,
Rick, I'm going to sound maybe a little bit direct maybe but lets see if we can get you on the way. I have
been trying to follow the discussion so I have not seen all postings on this topic and also not from the beginning.
But I do see a lot of static and noise so I will try help you get it cleaned up this dossier. First of all Firefox and some plugins will not result in making your stack blow up its all IP traffic. If you have a wrong mixture of drivers installed then maybe !?
And if there is a bug lets see if we can trace it down with some proper diagnoses.
I can certainly confirm that the OS/2 TCP/IP stack is not the worlds best TCP/IP stack. But we trust it enough. Basicly it pays my salary at Mensys. All critical machines run it and the machines are rock solid. The machine from which more then 10.000 people downloaded the eComStation demo CD processed more then 1 terabyte of traffic in month and has been running without any problem.
Can you send me privately your config.sys \ibmcom\protocol.ini
and \mptn\bin\setup.cmd ?
Second I can't seem to find your private email adres from the postings on the list. If I can get it I can send you a proper ZIP file for all replacements in \MPTN\PROTOCOL.
