Nope NO NO.
I have NO complaint about "wget" and it got nothing to do with my SOCKETS crashes.
I found "wget" to be LIFE SAFER over and over and over again.
Its the most astonishing piece of net SW tool I've ever found.
It allowed me to finish downloads where much bulkier tools would simply fail or lock up.
And its installation under OS/2 is a breeze compared with Windoze.
 
On at least one occasion I would have lost my job if not for wget.
Try to download a 3GB patch package, if your ftp session gives up on you every 10-15 seconds, w/o it!

So, imho wget and only wget could be the culprit as well. I do recall in
the past there were quite a few problems with it - after all, it isn't
profeesional software.

Whatever you do, still imho, it's mandatory you'll continue without wget
in memory (and reboot) to see what happens then.
