This gets even weirder.
Just for fun I tried an iptrace - nothing.
Iptrace said it was tracing both lan0 and lan1
ping the desktop and the iptrace window logs things. open a cmd prompt and do a
"ls -lR" on a mounted drive and it does it, the reported led lights flash, but
*nothing* happens in the trace window.
