My question now is: as our TP doesn't have a floppy drive, and as I have removed Windy completely, how are we (I'm I) supposed to perform the update?

Hi Kris,

Back when I was trying to make a bootable CD, one of the ways was to copy a bootable disk image to the CD.  There were a lot more steps, but that was the idea.  They worked for me then.  Would that still work now?

Have to admit I'm not sure. I've downloaded the bios update files, the "disks version" as well as "no disk" version, both are probably win32 executifs:

3-09-06 22:13         29.633      0 a---  1ruj35us.txt
3-09-06 22:11      1.439.632      0 a---  1ruj35us.exe
3-09-06 22:08      1.108.471      0 a---  1ruj35ud.exe

I'm a bit reluctant to start with it due to my lack of experience. And, as Mark's Thinkpad has the very same problem, I really would like to see his opinion too.

Kris:

1ruj35ud.exe  will run in Ecs and offer the option of copying a disk *.img to a 1.44 floppy.  Either a docking station or a port replicator will  give you the option of connecting an A drive.  Do you have a port replicator?  I have a docking station with an a:
drive for this TP 42P and it generated the disk which I can boot to and get the option of updating the BIOS...

Send me a private e-mail.  Where are you located.  I think I have an extra port replicator.
