This gets it out of the way before someone calls me that [or at least
thinks it].

This weekend, I will be installing eCS 1.2R on a brand new TPad T60. The configuration listing indicates the following:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 *  Integrated Ethernet: Integrated Gigabit Ethernet (Standard)
 *  Integrated WiFi wireless LAN: Wi-Fi wireless upgradable and
    Bluetooth (Standard)
 *  Integrated WiFi wireless LAN adapters: Intel PRO/Wireless
    3945ABG Mini-PCI Express Adapter  [Feature:  41A4068]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[I'm not sure if this means I have 'two' WiFi adapters, or what?  The
Rep, when I ordered the system, kept saying that the third
specification was the 'upgrade' to the second item.]

This means you get:

laptop with ethernet on board (probably Broadcomm, so eCS 1.2R may not autosense the chipset and you will have to manually install).

The laptop "can" take Wifi AND has Bluetooth (for communication to mobile phone, headsets etc. at close range) - as far as I know we do not have bluetooth support under OS/2 - eCS yet.

You will also be given a WiFi card (probably you'll have to install it yourself but the dealer may install it for you). - You'll need to check the GENMAC list to see if the 3945ABG is supported yet - I suspect not.
If you can cancel this component and check that the laptop has a Mini-PCI slot, then buy a 2200BG Mini-PCI card off eBAY or elsewhere, that may be the best direction.

Cheers/2
