Right. I should have written "Enhanced Speedstep Technology". And the difference isn't moot:

So, now we know at least the WHY of the difference between working on batteries and working directly on the mains.


And it looks obvious now the driver we have for the intel 2200 b/g  can't cope well with the "enhanced speedstep technology".

And as I am already suffering over 8 months with this problem, I wonder why one of the learned guys hasn't put our attention earlier to this  key "feature". --
