I have a T42P with the original IBM supplied Windows-XP
and there IS added software for reader!
When XP shows its screen with available users,
I can either click on one of those and supply a password,
or I can simply swipe a finger over the reader.
When recognized (80% :-) it selects the correct user
for that finger and logs on ...
You would need OS/2 based software to do something
similar for eCS.
I have NOT enabled the power-on usage of the reader which,
as someone mentioned that is probably handled by the BIOS.
I would find that to anoying (mandatory use) since I often
use the T42 docked, with closed lid ...
The Windows use of the reader is optional (KBD works too).
