It appears you were able to make use of the broadbandreports.com speed tests and tweak tests 
under OS/2? That's not working here. The tweak tool java applet does not appear in Mozilla although

I also tried to find "Networking for Non-Geeks" (or anything by Stanley Sidlov) at warpstock.org and 
had no luck there - did find more than a few contributions from our very own Mr. Rosenthal! I'm sure 
it is interesting reading and still hope to find it. I do wonder, however, is there some place to look to 
learn facts such as your claim about the NetGear router being a bottleneck. Perhaps my problems 
are associated with the NetGear MR814v2 I was using. I replaced it with a Zyxel because it was dirt 
cheap and supports 802.11g, but maybe it is a bottleneck too? Verizon is giving away an Actiontec 
wireless broadband router Model # MI424-WR with their FiOS. Its claims make it seem pretty darn 
robust.

As for 6 or 4 mbps... My Earthlink service claims to be "up to 5 mbps". My experiences with speed 
testers gives results barely topping 2.5 mbps (Tampa to Miami) and (of course) drops as the 
distance increases. Speed tests between Tampa and S.F, CA came in less than 1 mbps. 

In your experience, can I look forward to similar "stellar" performance with the FiOS 5/2 pkg, or will I 
actually get the pleasure of seeing download rates around 5 mbps?
