A: OS/2 Wireless Users Mailing List <os2-wireless_users@2rosenthals.com>

I know this is the wrong place to post this, but it's the only OS/2 list I still keep up with, and I know many of you guys are still very active OS/2ers, while I am down to two system still online, one of which is in my office at work, which totally annoys anyone else who tries to use it (I love that part).

Anyhow, I have been periodically testing Linux/Samba servers with Warp 4.52 that is installed in a VirtualBox on my home Linux system. I recently updated my Suse 10.1 home server with the latest stable version of Samba available from Novell and, holy cow batman, it seems to be back to working with OS/2!

For a test, I copied a directory tree that contains over 6000 files that contain over 220 MB of data from my venerable, but stable, OpenLinux/Samba2 server at work over my VPN to the Suse 10.1/Samba3 server at home, all through the virtual Warp 4.52 system, using the WPS. This hasn't been possible for two or three years, at least. So far (several hours of tinkering does not constitute a thorough test, but it's very encouraging) , no files have magically disappeared, or reappeared on the OS/2 desktop that have been save to or copied from, that server.

The version of Samba I am working with is 3.028043178710, according to WebMin.

The newer, beta version, of Samba, which is loaded on a Suse 11 beta3 test server (also at home), seems to have an authentication problem with my OS/2 client, but I don't have the debugging skills to do much digging.
