Unbelieveable. If you didn't say this has happened I would not even 
think that it could have. You have to track down which program is 
accessing it. Unfortunately I don't know any utility that can do this.

First of all, does the dialog show the WLAN device of the winxp box ? If 
not, there is simply nothign to connect to.

Furthermore, for adhoc networks you _have_ to create a connection 
profile, setting the network type to adhoc. The scan dialog always tries 
to connect to an ESS only (access point). Think you just have  put a 
todo item on the list (just wondering if this can be done anyway...)

You don't make Winxp hidden, but only the WLAN device in that wincrap 
box. You have to check the windoze utility to tell it to create an adhoc 
network.
