I can't find a clear statement that alternative firmware can't be used on a ver. 1, but in fact I have tried without success to use both DD-WRT and Satori on mine; it reports that the image is invalid (or some such wording), whereas I have used them both on a ver. 1.1.

Interesting; I have a Linksys WRT54G v 1 (new) which I may donate to the
SCOUG raffle which I am burning in; I should have time this weekend to try
the latest Sveasoft firmware and will report to this list the results.  I
have to work this Saturday and possibly Sunday.............

OK, I tried it again and realized that I had been trying the "retrieve a saved image" option instead of the "update firmware" option. I now have the latest DD-WRT firmware on both the ver. 1.0 and the ver. 1.1.
