FYI,
I have been testing the new XWLAN and GENMAC releases today,
in an effort to replace the (working :-) CISCO 350 card with the
Intel 2200 built into my Thinkpad T42.
Hoever, it has not been much of a success yet. A summary:
2) I started with replacing the XWLAN widget in the eCenter by 2.00
First removed the old one (delete widget, then removed DLL's etc)
Then installed the new one, and added the widget again.
Testing with the existing CISCO drivers loaded, and the card present,
showed that the card did work, but the XWLAN monitor did not.
The utility kept reporting "IP Interface is disabled".
Trying to reconfigure from the XWLAN menu fails.
However, using the card is no problem, it does have a IP address
(through DHCP), and FireFox works over the card with no problems.
I have seen by now that has been reported by several people
with varying results of card operation, but consisten failure
of the Wireless LAN monitor display ...
2) Hoping to improve this with the Intel 2200, I installed GENMAC 1.00.
Before doing so, I removed the remains of an earlier beta (the 0.90).
After installation of GENMAC, and replacing the CISCO driver
configuration by the the Intel one in MPTS I rebooted.
Unfortunately, that resulted in a double TRAP shortly after NETBIND
starts. I can see the GENMAC driver loading fine, and it identifies
my Intel 2200 correctly. However, some moments later NETBIND
gives a message, and it seems there is a flash of something else
loading or starting, and than an internal processing error (IPE), followed
by a pause of almost 2 seconds, and then (the same ?) IPE shows again.
I will see if I can get more details, like the trap-screen contents,
and see if anything useful is on LANTRAN.LOG.
Any hints on how to proceed are welcome :-)
I will also try to post to the gmane newsgroup/mailinglist that
is setup by Netlabs for supporting this ...
Note:
the network configuration for the test is relatively simple,
just a single card (the wireless one). I did have three protocols
bound to it though (Netbios, TCP/IP and TCPBEUI).
Will retry with just TCP/IP in place ...
Regards, JvW
