One way would be to do by hand what MPTS would do.
Use MPTS to add some network driver (doesn't really matter which),
then edit \IBMCOM\PROTOCOL.INI to replace stuff from that network card
with the corresponding entries for IBMPRISM. You can find the right
parameters in \IBMCOM\macs\IBMPRISM.NIF. Then, edit \config.sys to
replace the driver with the IBMPRISM driver.
However, I can understand that the above scares you off.
Another idea might be to use MPTS to first delete each and every entry
(network card and protocols), then try adding the IBMPRISM driver.
No guts, no glory. I was reluctant to manually muck around with a working network configuration for my wired lan, but not hearing any other suggestions tried it anyway.
Using MPTS, I added a new card not existent on my machine, fully expecting MPTS to bomb, but it didn't. Then added the protocols to the card and saved it. Edited protocol.ini to replace with IBMPRISM stuff and config.sys as well. It worked!! I can now connect to my wireless router.
Now I have to figure out the problems with xWlan/Wlan 2.0 so that I can actually use the wireless connection.
