Coming in the next release of XWLAN and (dare I say it...I know I'm going to be besieged with curses from some on this list...) the upcoming public beta of GenMAC. This survey functionality is really a matter for the driver to do; XWLAN presents the information to the user in a formatted display. What this means is that users of older drivers (e.g., the Cisco 340/350 and probably IBMPRISM and GENPRISM) will still not be able to get a survey of available Wi-Fi networks.
I will be talking at Warpstock about some of the new features ahead of us with XWLAN and GenMAC (okay, I asked for it; but please, everyone, let's start a new thread for arguing the pros and cons of delayed beta releases and closed alpha testing, please!). I will post some of that info here - after Warpstock - for discussion.

It would be nice to be able to generate a list of available networks.

What is it that you'd like to do? XWLAN already has a facility to call a script upon a given event (connect/disconnect). From the Help:
When using a REXX script for (dis)connect events, the following variables are passed to it in order to allow to take appropriate action within the script:
?WLan._EVENT
?WLan._PROFILENAME
?WLan._SSID
?WLan._IPCONFIG
?WLan._IPINTERFACE
?WLan._IPNETMASK
?WLan._DRIVERNAME
?WLan._DRIVERTITLE
?WLan._SCRIPTDIR
Does this help?

Is there a rexx dll for to xwlan?
It would be nice to be able to create some apps that hook into the information that xwlan is generating.
