Subject: [OS2Wireless] Problems with Wayport Wi-Fi (DHCP leases, IPv6 DNS, etc.)

My brother is staying at Courtyard by Marriott in southern VA. They've 
got a contract with Wayport to provide free Wi-Fi. So far, so good. The 
first issue we ran into was similar to what I reported in July (see 
thread subject "OS/2 Developers Workshop and Vodafone Wi-Fi at the 
hotel"). I had him open Mozilla (1.7.11) to about:config and set 
network.dns.disableIPv6 to True. That solved the issue of intermittent 
lookups.

Next, and perhaps more perplexing, is that Wayport is configured for 
1-hour DHCP leases. This, in and of itself, is not odd; surely many 
hotspot providers use short lease times (we do). However, the issue I'm 
seeing is that his address times out, and he has to wait for a renewal. 
Any thoughts on this? Is there a setting, perhaps, in dhcpd.cfg to 
request a renewal prior to lease expiration (as a workaround)? I haven't 
timed exactly when the address is being invalidated, but my guess is 
within 45-50 minutes.
