While I have Cisco 350s with the highest revision, I amMark, are you registered for Warpstock? I'd love to have a look at this during the Wi-Fi clinic... I'm not sure if I have all the parts on hand for a working T23 (I just swapped out a lower assembly including motherboard, CPU, and fan due to an overheat problem, but the board will run for some time before getting too hot...I just need to find RAM and an LCD for it), but I'll see what I can cobble together.
still interested in an mPCI card and will attempt to obtain
one of those mentioned for the T23.
The reason that I'd like to use the installed card is that,
even after we succeeded in getting the driver for my Cisco
350 to load correctly at the August 2005 BayWarp meeting,
most of the time it still takes over 99% of cpu cycles and
is usually unkillable. I have tried numerous strategies to
get it to load, with rare and inconsistent success. It's
assigned IRQ3 exclusively without apparent conflict until I
start WXLAN. I've tried using no peripherals as well as
various peripherals in USB, SCSI, and parallel ports,
hoping to determine where the conflict develops. I've also
run various hardware detection programs without finding
evidence of a conflict. Although I don't see parameters
described for WXLAN, I suppose I could find a way to use
reserve.sys to resolve a resource conflict if only I could
locate the source of the problem.
I agree with most of what you say here. However, my K6-IIII'm currently using a T30 with a 1.8GHz P4M. I had a chat with Knut some time back about this, and he told me that the Centrino chips are just more efficient than the P4M's. That said, with a gig of RAM in my T30, it's pretty snappy.
at 400MHz on an FIC PA2013 is faster than my T30. I'm
guessing that this is because of the cpu that many have
told me is a poorly designed model.
Also, you purchase oneYes, the high res LCD's are truly nice. However, for the T30, these are much more costly to replace than for the T4x series. I just did one for a T30, and a refurb LCD cost $495 from my supplier (as compared to the SXGA+ for the T42, which was $325).
with the high resolution screen ( :-> ), a real advantage
that I'd recommend for anyone who uses OS-virtualization
software such as VPC and SVISTA.
