I am about to buy an IBM ThinkPad to run OS/2/eCS on.

There aren't any IBM thinkpads anymore, just ThinkPads coming from Lenovo.

 The latest
version, version 296 of Aug '05, of the "Personal Systems Reference
ThinkPad Notebooks" does not list OS/2 as supported on any notebook.
Not alone IBM has closed books on OS/2, Lenovo, the new owner (of ThinPad) doesn't know anything about OS/2 and I'm pretty sure they don't want to know.

My preference is buy a T-series notebook and I am interested in whether
anyone is running OS/2, or eCS, on any late-model T-series machine,
preferably T54, T42, T41, or T40?

Any 40 or 41 (whether T, R, X or A) would do except for the internal wireless NIC and the internal  modem. Also some early 42 too if were produced by IBM.

Any TP coming from Lenovo is already an open question: seems what is classified under the same number (*42, *43. *44) can be equiped with different internals (wired nic, wireless nic, audio, modem). And if equiped with non USB 1.1 compatible USB 2.0, USB could be a problem too.

So the only money-back guarantee you can be given to is Video (through the SNAP driver) will work properly.

I'm running a T-41 which works rather well (except for the wireless nic and modem), but the *41 are already a year out of production,  so I'm not sure you can do  something with this  information.
