Subject: [OS2Wireless] Genmac and XWLAN

Oke you keep hearing messages about this driver. I can say (after having talked with Adrian Gschwend from Netlabs) 
A package will most likely be released before Warpstock Europe with the driver an XWLAN.

2 reasons it did not get released.

1. Driver required to be tested by limited and skilled group of users.
It seems to be rather stable.

2. The driver configuration is quite complex. This has been fixed.
Christian Langanke has a Thinkpad T40 with an Atheros card working
with the driver. I also got it working yesterday and I'm using a **beta** version
of XWLAN widget. I connected to an access point yesterday and it worked.
The new XWLAN widget is in beta and has a few crashes.

So there is progress but it just takes time as you can see.

Now please don't run of to the developers and
ask if you can join the beta program. It will just take time away from people who write
code and deal with bug report. There are *enough*  beta testers.
Keep an eye on netlabs.org for more news on the VOICE cast news mailing list.
When its released it will be a package with the driver and XWLAN.
