X-List-Unsubscribe: Send email to mailusers-request@2rosenthals.com X-List-Owner: mailusers-owner@2rosenthals.com Stan, you are correct in pointing out that the antenna in the lid is a requirement for the mPCI WLAN card. Many models did not come "Wi-Fi Ready." To make this determination (without looking up the model number of the machine), simply open the mPCI bay on the bottom of the machine and look for a pair of wires, one white and one black, which terminate in a small, round metal 90-degree connector with a pin in the center. each lead will have its own connector. Usually, these leads are tucked into a flexible white plastic fold inside the bay. For those who are not of a mind to swap LCD panels or to swap LCD cases, there's really no choice, as without the proper antennae, the mPCI - even with a working driver - is useless. In these cases, the Cisco or IBM PCMCIA cards are the way to go (I lean toward the Cisco 350, mainly because of its superior output). Some ThinkPad models have the mPCI slot located under the keyboard (T40 series), so removal of the keyboard is necessary to access the card bay. -- Lewis ------------------------------------------------------------ Lewis G Rosenthal, CNA, CLE Rosenthal & Rosenthal, LLC Accountants / Network Consultants New York / Northern Virginia www.2rosenthals.com eComStation Consultants www.ecomstation.com Novell Users International www.novell.com/linux/truth Warpstock 2005 - Hershey, Pennsylvania, October 6-9, 2005 www.warpstock.org ------------------------------------------------------------ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to steward@2rosenthals.com with the command "unsubscribe os2-wireless_users" in the body (omit the quotes).
