After getting an AmbiCom WiFi card to work in a couple of ThinkPads, I think
that prior knowledge of OS/2 networking is almost an impediment.
If you have XCenter or eCenter working, install the XWLan widget. Add the
adapter in MPTS, and bind TCP/IP to it, but do not activate it in TCP/IP
settings or setup.cmd. Let XWLan control TCP/IP.
It sounds like you have that much working. Now, get all of XWLan settings
correct -- the device, the TCP/IP interface selection. It sounds like you've
gotten this far.
Now it sounds like you have not got proper connection. That is going to be
because the SSID isn't matching or blank, or because you have WEP and the keys
don't match. Further adjustment to XWLan and your access point should allow you
to make the connection.
Hope this helps. Once I have XWLan connecting to one access point, it seems to
work very well indeed. I have several times travelled to a new WiFi location; a
restaurant or airport with free service, and simply connected.
I am anxiously awaiting the new beta of GenMac and XWLan to test out my Intel
adapter built into my T30.
