To answer your question, No! :(

However I have been using Starband for about 4 years now.  I have one Win2K box that host's the satellite modem via an ethernet connection and has a second NIC for my internal network.  I use Winproxy 5.x for the firewall, gateway, virus scanner and DHCP server.  My Windoze, OS/2-eCS and Linux clients and servers all work just fine.

Now I think you should probably be more concerned with performance.  So you need to consider what it is you want the internet access for.

If your only going to do web browsing then you may want to go with dialup.  With Satellite your internet traffic makes four 22,000 mile trips.  So you have a really high ping time, in the range of 800ms to over 2000ms.  So dialup can seem faster for just web browsing.

If you do allot of downloading as I do then it makes sense.  Out in the boonies where I live I would probably get 24k to 26.4k dialup speed which would give me 2.4k to 3k characters per second.  With Satellite I get 30k to about100k characters per second.  So downloads are pretty good.  When I had a cable modem my connection maxed out at about 150k.

Now Andy, I'm pretty sure that you are going to be doing allot of uploads.  Well that's the really bad part about satellite.  My upload speeds is comparable to a 33.6k dialup.  Starband does have more expensive modems and service that will get you faster upload speeds but they are pricey.

My basic service is $54.99 a month and my modem was $599 four years ago.

All satellite services use special compression software to get fast downloads and that software only supports Win2K and XP.  Maybe NT but Winproxy discontinued NT support so I had to go with Win2K since I already had the licenses.
