Subject: [OS2Wireless] bad experience at car dealers....


FWIW: my honda dealer has wireless for public use, so when I have my car serviced and they 
can't get me a loaner or the service is quick, I bring a laptop instead of staring 
mindlessly at the tv screens. It appears that they upgraded the network, as it went to 'g' 
protocols. They appear to have neglected to allow 'b' devices to connect (I wasn't able 
under windows or ecs to get an ip address). While this is something that they will fix - I 
spoke to a rep who will see the IT guy before my next visit on friday (different car) - it 
may be something that is a sign of things to come. After all, why should an entire network 
slow just because one person has a 'b' type card, etc. 

It points out to me, the importance of getting public "G" drivers that work with the 
variants of "G" and "N" drivers as soon as we can. It is certainly a project that 'money 
should be thrown at' like the Mozilla one. And I say this as a person who has a Asus g AP. 
It's not as convenient as a PCMCIA card.
