I'm sure I saw something about this idea in the newspaper a few days ago.
Memory is unclear, but I think it had been applied in Japan.

You are probably right about the business possibilities, especially for places
near a university campus (AHA! Berkeley!). Personally, I would find another
place to get my coffee. There ought to be limits to intrusion, and not
everything that is technically possible and financially profitable ought to be
done.
