I originally had problems with my Cisco 340 in my ThinkPad 600E because there was an IRQ conflict with the internal modem. The temporary cure was to go into the ThinkPad Utility and disable the internal modem. The long term solution was to reassign some IRQs. That should cure your IRQ/resource problem.
