Hi, Howard, and thanks for chiming in. Looking forward to seeing you again this year. Some quick replies, below:

I hope that by now, most everyone on this list is aware of the upcoming Warpstock event in Hershey, PA in October. We (the event team, of which your humble author is Chair) are hard at work planning what promises to be a great event, both from a content perspective and also the overall experience.

One thing that I always need to know as early as possible is the outline schedule, in particular when the first session starts and the last one finishes, so I can plan transport.  I usually end up missing the last session or two because I have to catch a flight, and knowing this and when I need to be there to catch the start is vital information that's needed ASAP - and usually doesn't appear until much too late to book flights.

Good suggestion. I believe that Edgar's plan is to follow last year's schedule rather closely, with half-day sessions on Thursday and Friday, and shorter presentations on the weekend. Start and end times should also be fairly close to last year (8am - 5:30pm). Keep an eye on the schedule which should be coming online soon enough at http://www.warpstock.org/event_info/2005/presentations.html.

I need to get some feedback from this list to shape my presentations, as I don't want to re-hash the same stuff I've done the past two years (those presentations are still available for download    from the Warpstock site, BTW).

I recently bought a couple of the Asus WL-330g "Pocket Wireless Access Point" devices, and they're excellent!  I set one up as the AP and the other as an Ethernet Adaptor on my ThinkPad, and the performance was excellent.  I walked up the road to check range, and gave up when I started receiving someone else's network on the same channel (about 100 yards from home).  I think you should tell people about these in more detail because although they're not as convenient as an internal device, they do give us 802.11g without any driver worries.  I'll bring mine along if you like.

Stan has graciously volunteered to update his networking session from 2003, and says that he will include this device in his talk. Great idea.

Finally, who on this list is seriously considering registering for Warpstock this year?

Well my original reaction was disappointment (along with "Where?" :-) because I know SCOUG had a bid in and I was hopping it was going to be there, half an hour's drive from some friends that I can stay with!
It would be nice to do SoCal in '06, and I'm hopeful that they'll stay involved.

But I spoke to my girlfriend (she lives in New York) and she was enthusiastic about us both going - with her "hitting the town" while I'm in the sessions.  So count me as one for the conference plus one other!  I take it that the room rates are not per-person?

That is correct. The rates are for a single or double room, not per person.

What are the facilities for Internet in the rooms?  If it's wired, can I use my Pocket APs to set up my own little WiFi hotspot?

Wired broadband, and if you join Wyndham By Request, it's free (otherwise, it's $9.95 per day). I joined last year, and I can honestly say that I have not been spammed as a result of joining, which is a good thing. I usually set up a router in the room so that my wife and I can share the connection, so feel free!
