I installed Card Bus 8 to resolve it I currently use a Dell Latitude D600 and started with CB8 and then replaced the driver it loaded with the SS2PCIC2.SYS for my O2Micro chipset. The one your using may be fine too I'm not really sure though. The installation on this laptop went without a hitch. But at any rate I think CB8 may be the resolution here. Also I would recommend disabling WEP and use WiFiStat and not the XWLAN thing until you get it working.
