As I  understand it, my ADSL router is currently acting like a bridge between  the ADSL interface and the Ethernet interface.

Well a bridge is typically a device that connects two different types of network media together.  A wireless bridge connects a wired and wireless network together.  A T1/ISDN bridge would connect two networks together across a T1 or ISDN link.  Bridges don't route network traffic between two networks.  So you would need a router to route packets between the internet, a public network, and your Lan, a private network.

In my case I have three physical networks. I don't know if I can/should bridge all three to make it look like one logical network.

What I can't figure out is how to incorporate WLAN into this.

I thought you had a wireless router?

It's an ASUS ADSL wireless router which contains a four port ethernet hub in addition to being a wireless AP and ADSL modem.

This sounds very similar to the Linksys wireless routers that I have used.

Presumably the WLAN interface must also set up in bridge mode so would have the same IP address as the the Ethernet interface. At this point my mind goes blank since I can't figure out how this could possibly work.

Typically in a router your WAN interface has a internet IP address assigned by your ISP and your Local interface (the wired and wireless) has an IP address that is on the same network as the rest of your ethernet devices.

Maybe typically, but not applicable in my case.

I have five static IP addresses - one for my ADSL wireless router, two for my servers and one which I normally use with desktop. The other is allocated as and when I need to use it.

Does your ISP assign these addresses to you?

What I can't figure out is whether the WLAN interface on the wireless router will have the same static IP address as the ethernet interface.

In my experience with the Linksys routers they have the same address.  The router has one IP address and this adress is the Gateway or Default Route.  Your hardware may be different so maybe someone has experience with what you are using.

Now if your ISP is assigning you all of these IP addresses then they may be doing the routing for you which would explain why your bridging configuration is working.  So I would think that your Wireless interface is already active with the IP address you have been using for the wired interface.  Your Cat5 and Wifi connections are most likely connected together via an internal Hub/Switch.

At the moment the device acts as a bridge between the ADSL and ethernet interfaces, but I don't know whether to set the WLAN interface as a bridge or router.

Did you try assigning your spare IP address to your WiFi computer and see if get a connection?  Your Router/Bridge should have a default SSID but you can change that if you want.  In MPTS field of your WiFi computer leave the SSID field blank and your WiFi card will pickup any Wireless network.

What ISP are you using?
