It's currently set to Bridged, and the Ethernet interface has a >fixed IP address which I want to keep. what router is it? I have a SMC 8 port hub. One of it's ports has a SMC Wireless AP attached. I use mixed DHCP and Static IP addresses. The SMC router is configured to only give addresses between 192.168.2.51-100. The Wireless AP, my printer server, and my ASUS WG300 use a static address below 50. All the PC's use DHCP since I have a mixed OS/2 and Windows (var.flavors) environment. Only the ASUS wg300 is in 'bridge mode' It's IP is the same subnet as the SMC router but does not have the same IP. It has the same SSID. It has the gateway IP of the SMC router, and the DNS entry of the SMC router. This allows the IP phone attached to it, and my wife's laptop attached to it, to ask the SMC router for IP addresses and DNS resolution. The Asus has a stored profile to connect to the channel and SSID and encryption that the SMC AP uses instead of the 5 other networks available in my house from my neighbors. Thankfully, my neighbors are too dumb to use anything but the default channel 6..... Stan Sidlov -- http://www.warpstock.org Warpstock 2005 will be Hershey, PA, Oct. 6-10th.
