just FWIW. The February update of IBM/Levco Access Connections no longer supports network connections that are not integrated to the motherboard or by the PCI bus. No support for PCMCIA or USB NICs is provided, in fact, existing profiles with location switching between the usb/pcmcia and motherboard nic will not work properly. You will have install the cards/USB devices' support driver and interfaces to have access to the device settings.

.... and it is or can be much worse than that. Have a look at

http://www-3.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=/product.do?template=%2Fproductpage%2Flandingpages%2FproductPageLandingPage.vm&sitestyle=ibm&brandind=10&familyind=207196&machineind=207203&modelind=209560&partnumberind=0&subcategoryind=0&doctypeind=100&doccategoryind=0&operatingsystemind=53385&validate=true

and you'll have to discover there are quite a lot of different T43 devices around.

For instance, I had a ThinkPad T43 2669-44G in possesion, and to install eCS initially was not possible. After having a look at the bios it turned out _all_ pci and USB was set to IRQ11. After altering that it was possible to install eCS, but quite a lot of things didn't work properly. After wiping out eCS and  installing Windy ... well, Windy couldn't be reinstated untill the PCI-USB gang was reset to it's default, namely _ALL_ to irq11. Incidentally, the USB isn't eCS-USB1.x backwards compatible, so for instance Logitech mice won't work anymore.

Good old days won't be back again...
