please execute xwlprf /V /C and send me the output. protocol.ini would be helpful as well.

"Interface module could not be initialized"

Seems as if the DIM doesn't see the driver. I just checked the driver name GENM320$ in your protocol.ini. This is no standard name for the driver interface module, there only WRND32$, WRND322$ WRND323$ etc is being searched for. Did you modify that name ?

If so, you have to reset to the standard name. You know, there is no official API to query a drivers name or any other information from the protocol manager, so every utility that would correspond with a driver has to rely on a hardcoded driver name. If you think it could be read from the protocol.ini, this unfortunately is no option as this file could well have been modified since last boot and thus may not relfect the current in-memory status of the drivers and protocol bindings.

I think I should add that as a prerequisite to the XWLAN INF file... didn't think of that yet, as I never heard that someone would modify that on purpose.

It is grey and no amount of fiddling between the widgets has any effect.

Ray

I think I completely misunderstood what you meant with "greyed". If it is about the context menu item in the xCenter, there are two kinds of submenus

First is "Add widget to tray" - within this menu the XWireless LAN Monitor entry is always greyed out.. In this case you would try to add the monitor to a tray, waht is not allowed.

Second is "Create new widget", here the menu item is always active. You could even add it if  no wireless LAN driver was installed

What kind of sumbenu is it ?

Just as a hint to easier cope with the widget spacing: open the xcenter properties, goto style page, and activate "draw spacing lines" then set widget spacing to the maximum. After that you can easily make sure that you add the widget to the xCenter and not to a tray. keep the properties open, so that you can reset everything afterwards.

But first of all please make sure that the standard drivername is being used.

bye, Christian
