I guess I did say Clean Room without specifying whose definition was used (not mine). Anyway, no argument from me. I suspect that somebody at DEC probably got a chunk of cash in his pocket to not bring it up, and a letter from a Microsoft lawyer that they would be willing to spend more than the gross national product of a small Carribean country if DEC sued them, so take the bribe and go away. There is another possibility. I have no way of knowing if this is true or not, but DEC may have decided that these folks were no longer required after finishing the job and let them go. Terminated employees often suddenly think of ways to do a job better than one they just completed for the former employer.
