that came with the A31 for Windows 2K would not recognize it and actually prevented the Intel software from working. After I removed the IBM wireless networking support software and reinstalled the Intel software, the 2200b/g worked fine.On your A31 then, not on my TP41, as the error comes at the bios post, when there is no "supporting software" around as you sure are aware of.
This tells me that the "lockout" was built into the supporting software, rather than the bios.
Regarding Lenovo, they have actually fixed long standing bugs in some of the IBM add on Windows software.
In that respect, things have improved.
However, I suspect that they will not provide ANY OS/2 support, or even sympathy, since they will most likely feel no trace of lingering responsibility.
You are still lucky with your A31, as from the TP41 on models are crippled according to their type number.
I am waiting for the fallout with GenMac to stop before I reinstall OS/2 on the A31 because I need the wireless networking to function or it will be unusable.
Unrelated P.S.
Last week the person who developed the memory management for Windows NT
was not happy when Gates and Balmer came in and ordered them to make Windows run on top of it. That was not in the original definition. So, what's in for eCS in this old story?
