You should be able to do a selective install and see what it detects as your PCMCIA chipset. On my Dell I don't think it detected anything. So I installed Card Bus 8 and tried all of the Socket Service drivers until I found one that worked. I'm not even sure where I got the driver that worked. But since you have an older laptop it should be easier I would think.
