Hi Lewis!

Hi, Robert!

All-inclusive? OK! Here we go...

I got a couple of questions to add to your list:
- How do I determine what network card I have?  (how to find out what chipset is used in a no-name card for example)

Good point.

- My PCMCIA WLAN card is a cardbus card, what does that mean for my PCMCIA configuration?

Per Maurice's suggestion. Okay, I'll work on this.

- How do I install a network driver in MPTS?

Yep. Got that. Will do.

- How do I bind protocols to a network card?

Part of the one above; good point. (Doesn't anyone remember how to do this from setting up the wired NIC? Well, I 'spose I shouldn't pose this question, as for years, I just used to manually edit PROTOCOL.INI and CONFIG.SYS with a text editor...)

- The ARtem driver comes with a MSG file, where do I copy that?

Didn't I mention about where the .MSG files go? Unless the Artem is different? Perhaps a quick anatomy of a .NIF would be in order, so people could sniff out the details for a particular card?

- I once heard about a file called LANTRAN.LOG. Where do I find the file and does it contain information that can help me to determine possible causes for my network problems?

Excellent!! Yes, this one NEEDS to get in there.

- Once a network card is installed, how do I make sure the driver recognizes the card an both play together?

Hmmm... A troubleshooting section, perhaps, which mentions heartbeat lights on the card (if available), and then goes on to talk about LANTRAN.LOG and the ability to increase logging levels.

- I installed the driver and inserted the card, but no lights on the card. What do I check and in what order?

See above. Good points, all.

- A sample configuration for one network card on one particular piece hardware. (Just to run through the steps required for setup and configuration)

Yes, though I was hoping to do this in the How-To, and not the FAQ.

I know that some questions are very broad. But I have run into situations where precise answers to such questions would have saved me a lot of typing and testing!

True enough!

I guess I can contribute some answers as well! Lewis, what format do you want and can I somehow include screen shots as well?

(I see you're really moving in that "Wiki" direction, my friend... ;-)  This thing is taking on a life of its own. For the next couple days, hold onto the screen shots, post plain text here, and I'll have something figured out before the holiday weekend.)
