If your are only using WIFI at home and don't need it to access public hotspots, than you can do without WLAN monitor. But before we can go further, please tell more about your Wireless router or accesspoint. What SSID are you using, do you use encryption? This information is needed to be able to give you the right setup information. If you give me this info, than I can give you a good example of PROTOCOL.INI.
