X-List-Unsubscribe: Send email to mailusers-request@2rosenthals.com X-List-Owner: mailusers-owner@2rosenthals.com Hello Kris, I think the whole wifi in OS/2 situation is a mess. Therefore IMHO there is not much point in trying to go back to how it worked (or not) 2 years ago. This being said, after having been at it for a couple of months, with much support from this group and others, I now have wifi working fine on a TP600E. My wifi PCMCIA card is a NetGear 401, and I am using a GenPrism (not public) driver. I also installed the WLan monitor (v. 1.11) which is much more than a monitor. In MPTS I installed the card, took out any others (such as the "ec2t" I used for my Linksys ethernet card) and set up the TCPIP protocol only. I'm pretty sure this is unduly restrictive, but I'm still licking my wounds, hence going at it cautiously. Inspecting the .nif file will give you lots of comments on what is and is not required. Most of the configuration can be done via the WLan monitor, you do not have to open TCPIP at all. As far as I can see, it's all easy (!) if only you have the correct driver. For instance, I tried other cards and they did not work, probably for lack of the correct driver. And the NetGear card did not work when I used the NetGear 401 driver which is on the os2warp.be site! Earlier I suggested in this list and/or in (Ecs-Technical) that it would be useful to set up a Table of proven card-driver couples. I was told in no uncertain terms that such a Table exists on the .be site. I think the messages on this list show clearly enough that all is not well. Good luck! mg On Sun, 19 Dec 2004 23:04:28 +0100, Kris Steenhaut wrote: |Hello all, | |I am now maybe at a stage I could think about setting a first step in |the World of wireless OS2. | |Actual situation: | |Main PC: connected to router --> Internet |Laptop: connected to router ---> Internet. | |Using ftp (and nedrive) I can copy between Main PC and laptop and vice |versa. | | |I do have a Jacaranda Blue PCMcia card, and the laptop is T41. | |I presume we can't use under OS/2 the inbuild T41 wireless facilities, |and I have already noticed, anything I'll put in a PCICIA slot takes irq |7, so I only can have one at a time in the PC.
