I am now maybe at a stage I could  think about setting a first step in
the World of wireless OS2.

Well worth doing - very nice to be able to use the laptop without wires..

I hope so ...

I do have a Jacaranda Blue PCMcia card, and the laptop is T41.

I presume we can't use under OS/2 the inbuild T41 wireless facilities,
and I have already noticed, anything I'll put in a PCICIA slot takes irq
7, so I only can have one at a time in the PC. Very inconvenient.

Now, how do I start?

Well - not sure what chipset the Jacaranda Blue uses - but if it's a
Prism it should work with the available OS/2 drivers.

Drivers are artem version 1.5 already installed.

Sometime soon, hopefully an update to Genmac to work with Wireless Winxx
drivers should be available and you may be able to use the T41 wireless
facilities (Daniela has already reported it was working with here Intel
2200BG laptop at 55MBps).

Do yourself a favour and get the Xworkplace WLan widget - makes

Last time I did myself the "favour" the x* thinghy screwed my system. I was lucky as I always have proper back ups.
Anyway, I tought it could be done without additional gimmicks, or do I have it wrong.

configuration much easier.  Either assign a static IP or let your router
or Wireless Access Point assign a DHCP address.

As long as I am in the league of dummies it must be simple dhcp...

Does your existing router have wireless functionality or you need to buy
a new one?

The router, an SMC 7804wbrb (ADSL Barricade g as tehy call it) is a (quote):
Wireless 54 Mbps Broadband Router with Built-in Annex B?UR" ADSL Modem.

Me thinks, on the wired part, it is propely installed (after much of pain). To repeat:

Main PC to router ---> internet

Laptop T41 to router --> Internet

Main PC and laptop connectable to each other by means of ftp and netdrive.

Drivers for the jacaranda are installed. Little lights on the jacaranda are blinking so every now and then ....

I jsut don't know to do what next ... for instance, how do I controll wether the card sees the router or not?
