I only have java 118 in my libpath, everything else I have scripts setup to change the Java being used. I do, however, set the path and libpath for my java 1.4.x because it was in my script and I didn't take it out though libpath isn't needed. I can tell which Java is being called because they each change the properties icon in the upper right corner differently and I did some testing of renaming other Java directories just to make sure. I do vaguely remember a similar error but no idea now what was causing it (assuming that what I am remembering is even the same error). If it comes to me I will surely report it.
