What's a bridge? I design bridges but I am sure not the kind to wjich you are referring. I just want to wirelessly connect my DSL line that is connected to a Linksys broadband-G router thru the ISP (Verizon) supplied modem to my eCS box that is about 50' distant and one floor lower. Mark R
:-) A bridge, technically, is a device which connects to segments of the same network, usually separated by different media (CAT5, unshielded twisted pair cable on one side, phone line on the other, connected to a bridge at the other end). A router, OTOH, connects two different networks, and "routes" packets between them. These devices can be connect to similar or dissimilar media (e.g., an ethernet router takes CAT5 ethernet - unshielded twisted pair, usually - and routes the packets to another CAT5 cable; a serial router takes a serial connection and routes it to ethernet).
DSL technology uses bridging, while other broadband connections usually use routing (cable, for instance).
