Hello, AllHope for you the device has 11b + 11g capacity...
I'm new to this list, (but not to OS/2). I'm thinking of purchasing a
wireless card so I can make use of the wireless capabilities of the
Linksys 54G router I recently bought.
What is the easiest (and cheapest) combination of hardware and softwareEasy to answer: there is none of 11g driver available, so it is a nono. Some people say it's coming, but that could be a long wait or even a wit for ever ... who knows.
which I can get, today and is there any prospect that a 11g combination is
likely to appear?
machine is using a Xircom Cardbus RBE-100 PCMCIA card for its NIC...HopingAt present, the only option is to purchase a second hand 11b card (assuming your router does 11b).
to just plug in a wireless replacement.
I have not bought, nor am I likely to buy Software Choice orWouldn't give you 11g anyway.
eCS...although a recent UDF.IFS would be nice I really do think that my
PVR will be Linux based...
SO? What is the easiest route using a PCMCIA card?Yes, yes and yes ... and almost the only option (probable second hand) there is. Mensys is still listing them:
1) Buy an Artem card and use it's driver? (Does that have a Linux
and Win driver?
2) Find one of the magic Cisco 350 cards...and then where do IVery tricky for quite a few reasons.
find the OS/2 driver which will work with it...? Links anyone?
3) Find a someothercard with a Prism?/Orinoco chipset?Yes.
4) Does it change things if I decide to get a Thinkpad T40 orTP 40 has an internal wirelles intel ... some say drivers are "coming", but that could be a long wait (if not a wait for ever).
X30...what exactly are the distinguishing markers between the different
min-PCI cards and where do I find drivers for them?
5) Is anyone trying to make an OS/2 version of ndiswrapper? ShouldIf you are sure you'll live for eternity you sure could afford it to wait .. :-)
I wait for a .11g card and driver combo?
